Our Story 2017-05-09T00:42:09-07:00

“We have no axes to grind. We will speak out, editorially, whenever we think something needs to be said. In our news columns, we will strive to be objective… We want The CUB to reflect the mood, style, and desires of this great community. In other words, we want to be the line of communication through which our community can talk to itself.”

– Fred Davis

The CUB has been serving the residents of Bear Valley Springs, CA, since 1978. The late Fred Davis said that someday he wanted to retire and put out a newspaper in the “our little town”. One day while Tom Wilde was building a home for Davis, Tom thought, “Why not?” Tom Wilde and his wife June began publishing The CUB, and Fred Davis became the first Editor. The rest is history.

The CUB has changed hands over the years, but has always remained faithful to the people of Bear Valley Springs. The CUB is a privately owned publication, with no ties to the Bear Valley Springs Community Services District (“the government”) or Bear Valley Springs Association (amenities management). Our desire is to inform owners, residents, and neighbors of upcoming events and provide news that address community concerns.
